Laser Cladding Systems
Laser cladding is a new, innovative laser technique for all kinds of surface treatments. With the help of a diode laser an additional material can be cladded onto a component to extend its lifetime, and improve its resistance against wear and corrosion.
After thorough research in cooperation with the Laser Processing Research Centre, at the University of Manchester, ALT discovered the enormous advantages and possibilities of laser cladding.
Laser cladding is a technique that is already being used for several applications in the aerospace and automotive industry. Laser cladding can be used for the protection against wear and corrosion of new components and for the repair of damaged components.
Powder fed laser beam cladding is the cladding of an additional material onto a component with the help of a laser beam. Cladding coating materials are chosen based on their technical purposes, i.e. to provide corrosion resistance, chemical resistance or greater hardness.
